Thank you to all of the many parents who came out and supported our band this evening. I was very humbled by the number of community members to showed up. I thought the entire community chartered a bus. This goes to show the support for the fine arts at Ashley Community Schools. That being said... Human judgment is very controversial and subjective by nature. 10 minutes was allotted to show the capabilities of a program through 4 songs and 4 judges. I am proud of my band, always have been, always will be. I have good kids who have a passion to learn, to work together as a team, and have a lifelong appreciation for a craft that perhaps other will never experience. In the end, it was a number. A number that will remain on a plaque for years to come. We wont remember this number many years from now. We will remember the good times we shared as a group. We will remember the various trips we took. We will remember the respect that your teacher demanded in the art of making music. We will remember the good times and the bad times. We will remember how we came together to help each other in the darkest moments. We will remember the hard work that was expected and demanded each and every day. When real music comes to me - the music of the spheres, the music that surpasses understanding - that has nothing to do with me, cause Im just the channel.
