A JOINT STATEMENT FROM ALIA,CP of NYS, DDAWNY, IAC, NYSARC and UJA A deal has been reached between the Governor and the legislature on the OPWDD not-for-profit restoration bill!! The deal was reached last evening with Assemblymember Harvey Weisenberg and the personal intervention of Governor Andrew Cuomo. The bill begins a process to restore the $90 million dollars that was cut in the 2013 -14 New York State budget. Assemblymember Weisenberg made a point of telling us that the success was due to the collaborative efforts of families, staff, consumers and volunteers from ALIA, CP of NYS, DDAWNY, IAC, NYSARC and UJA. WE EXTEND OUR SINCERE THANKS to Governor Cuomo and the bill sponsors, Assemblymember Weisenberg and Senator Golden! The bill, which has 146 Assembly sponsors and many sponsors in the Senate, is expected to pass the Assembly on Monday.
