Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and Ronni Hannaman for putting on this forum and the people who were able to attend this event. The differences between my opponent and myself are clear. I am against wasting $25 (plus) million dollars of tax payer money on ill conceived plans, increasing taxes for more self serving ideas and not being transparent or accountable to the citizens. She is already promoting seeking another tax increase for her arts interests while catering to her select group of friends and people of means she touts. She has repeatedly ignored the citizens voices on key issues, repeatedly rejected citizen requests to vote on key issues and refused to abstain herself from voting to approve her own personal agenda items with direct financial benefit opportunities and continues to promote deals in the cloak of secrecy, confidentiality agreements and direct sole sourcing on issues that would not meet up to public scrutiny. We deserve better representation on our Board. We can improve Downtown without narrowing Carson Street by enhancing Curry Street. We need to focus attention to ALL areas in the city needing improvements for our residents, quit diverting money from our water and sewer funds for other purposes, reestablish the city rainy day fund, quit delaying much needed maintenance projects and pilfering our General Fund for non essential expenditures that do not provide for return on our money spent. I believe in meeting the needs of Carson City first when planning expenditures in the city budget, trimming the budget where duplicative services and/or wasteful spending are occurring and ensuring the necessary infrastructure improvements are made for local businesses to succeed and promote new business to locate here. A vote for change to the Board can enable us to have our voices respected and citizen involvement are met when deciding key issues to improve our quality of life and the attributes and atmosphere in our city.
