Thankfulness-Grateful challenge Some silly ones but this is it. Ironically I will finish all this on the feast of the Assumption. This day brings back A LOT of memories of family, food, culture and summer. It is true that songs can put you into a mood, but the senses are so incredibly powerful too. Smell, taste and vision can easily transport you. Taste: Sugar pears and extremely sour apples = the first bite of these transports me to my grandparents’ small farm plot complete with hayloft, tall fresh mown grass, and grazing horses. An immediate transport! Immediate! Always look forward to this time of year and reliving being with of my grandparents. (you are so missed) Smell: fresh cut long grass = brings me to the same back field in Gaberje. Sight: Mountains – Kranjska Gora = sitting on the balcony in the night, real dark, and just ‘be’. A place you can walk to the local bakery in 10 minutes, pick up a coffee (and sit there drinking it with friends), and still return to a breakfast with your family. LOVE THIS PLACE! Logarska = hike anyone? Ljubljana = my graduate city. History, architecture, Marolt, ZKOS, SAZU, and just plain lots of memories. If you could only rewind time. Florence = architettura + scuola + gelato. Crazy times! Last, I’m thankful for those dreams that created good memories and the imagination to continue dreaming with good friends and those in my heart, JJAK.
