Thanks Aditi Holmes for the mention, so almost immedately after the ten songs, the ten books with the authors first names arranged in the alphabetical order, 1. The Da Vinci Code Dan Brown - One of the many un-put-downables that i eventually got to read as a teenager. The movie doesnt (almost as usual) do justice to the book. 2. The Day of the Jackal Frederick Forsyth - This was the second book of his after the Afghan that i had managed to get my hands on, and it cemented his position as my favourite author. 3. A Feast for Crows GRR Martin - Filling the void of the fantasy world of Harry Potter, the Song of Ice and Fire with an unimaginable feat of a twist at the end of every chapter surely comfortably ranks in. 4. All things wise and wonderful James Herriot - For making my childhood dream of becoming a veterinary surgeon seem so much fun! The entire series really. 5. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets You Know Who - For making me wish St. Vincents actually transformed to Hogwarts when i turned ten by which time Harry was already 13. 6. Three Men in a Boat Jerome K Jerome - To say nothing of the dog! My first brush with good humour in writing, given that i read Wodehouse much later. A great book to say the least. 7. The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini - The first book that i read which had a narrative which painted an intense and dark picture of the world outside my own. 8. The Canterville Ghost Oscar Wilde - A ghost like i had never thought of one! Another short funny story. 9. The Simoqin Prophecies Samit Basu - Another first, this time with Indian authors in fiction. The Gameworld Trilogy was altogether a fun journey. 10. The Emperor of All Maladies Siddhartha Mukherjee - Such great literary work about such a grave scientific issue and a well deserved Pulitzer Prize. A huge fan. This brings me to the end of the list and I may have left out a few, so i pass on the baton to Gauri Gangakhedkar.
