Thanks Ben for that nomination for the #IceBucketChallenge With this latest wave of nominating people to do stuff craze has started, Ive had very mixed feelings about it. I see these nominations being like people knocking at your door trying to sell you double glazed windows and other products- If I wanted windows I would go and look for them. Before you all flip out, its a good cause and the awareness is great, it really is. Ive learnt a lot about ALS through this. But Im not going to do something through pressure from social media, I feel it isnt the right reason to donate. Obviously the whole point of the Ice Bucket Challenge is to provide a forfeit if you dont donate (apparently), and through the 24 hour time limit and public call out through facebook, you feel as if you HAVE to fill up and throw the bucket over yourself; otherwise youre a chicken etc etc etc. Well, bollocks to that, peer pressure doesnt work for me anymore. When Ive donated money to charities previously and walked around the town at night giving hot food to the homeless, I did those things because I wanted to, because I was motivated to help those people/causes through intrinsic motivation. With this being said- I decided to donate £20 to a charity of my choice through this nomination- its been a while since Ive done this so its a good time to do it. I nominate Josh Galloway, Sophie Gaffney, Cortney Douglas and Jaysus Stuart-William to do something GOOD for a charity or cause of your choice. It can be the Ice Bucket Challenge, it can be a donation, it can be volunteering at an animal shelter or giving food to the homeless... the only rule is to pay this goodness forward to people in need of hope, love and support.
