Thanks For The Memories NICKY CLARK has no idea what sort of reception to expect when he returns to Queen of the South tonight but is relishing the chance to knock them out of the Ramsdens Cup. The striker spent two years at Palmerston Park before leaving under freedom of contract to join the Light Blues in the summer. Last term was a remarkable campaign for the forward with the Dumfries side as he scored 41 times and inspired them to a Second Division and Challenge Cup double. Clark insists there was no way he could refuse Gers’ advances when they began to show an interest in him. He hopes Queens fans appreciate that but won’t be as sympathetic towards them as he bid to eliminate their side from the competition. Clark said: “When I saw the draw I was delighted about it and it’s a chance to go and see a few familiar faces who I’m still in touch with all the time. “Hopefully I can upset them on the night and make sure we’re the ones who get a positive result. “Palmerston is a great place to play at. I’m sure there’ll be a good atmosphere there and the match will be a sell-out. “I’ve no idea what kind of reception I’ll get. Hopefully it will be all right but we’ll wait and see how that pans out. I think most people understand why I left. “You can’t turn down a move to Rangers, although there are always people who won’t appreciate that so I suppose I might get stick from one or two.” One of the highlights of Clark’s season in 2012/13 came at Ibrox, when he was part of the Doonhamers side that beat Rangers on penalties in the last eight of this competition. He scored the opening goal in a 2-2 draw and added: “It was an unbelievable night for us. It was the first time I’d played at Ibrox and to score was crazy. “As a team, nobody really fancied us to get the result that night but we did it and obviously went on to win the Ramsdens Cup. “Queens were great for me. I’d been in the top flight before at Aberdeen and taken a couple of steps back but now I’ve taken steps forward again and ended up at Rangers. “It was a great place for me to play my football. I stuck at it and made the most of my time there which I’m really happy about.”
