Thanks Justice Akwasi Sarpong for nominating me for the #whyilovejesuschallenge#. John Newton, the writer of the hymn Amazing Grace once said he knows two things: 1. he (John Newton) is a great sinner. 2. Jesus is the great Saviour. I was dead, bound, condemned and hopeless in sin. The bus I was travelling on had Satan as its driver, lust, pretence, hatred, malice, pride and all forms of evil were my fellow travellers, surprisingly I was the conductor on that bus. Our destination was hell and eternal destruction. Fear and my own weakness had crippled me so much that I could not leave this bus. But at the rest stop of Grace, I met the GOD-Man Jesus Christ. Hmmm, such a warmth of love and acceptance from Him I have never felt before. As filthy and smelly as I was. He embraced me. Then He whispered Selorm do you know I gave my life to set you free from sin and its consequences?” I doubted but he showed me the print of nails in his palm, the scare on His side, the evidence of His love for me. I trusted my life there and then to Him, He forgave my sins, He set me free, gave me His precious Holy Spirit and His word and now He says I am seated with Him in the heavenly places. He now dwells in my heart by faith. Once an enemy, but now a member of God’s own household. A citizen of Heaven. Although He has made me a son and an heir of His kingdom, I have chosen like Apostle Jude to identify myself as His slave. I sum up my experience in one of my favourite hymns: 1. O what a wonderful, wonderful day, day I will never forget; After Id wandered in darkness away, Jesus my Saviour I met. O what a tender, compassionate friend, He met the need of my heart; Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling, He made all the darkness depart. Chorus Heaven came down and glory filled my soul, (filled my soul) When at the cross the Saviour made me whole; (made me whole) My sins were washed away and my night was turned to day, Heaven came down and glory filled my soul! (filled my soul) 2. Born of the Spirit with life from above into Gods family divine, Justified fully thru Calvarys love, O what a standing is mine! And the transaction so quickly was made, when as a sinner I came, Took of the offer, of grace He did proffer, He saved me, O praise His dear name! 3. I have a future in heaven for sure there in those mansions sublime. And its because of that wonderful day, when at the cross I believed; Riches eternal and blessings supernal, from His precious hand I received.
