Thanks Tommy... I remember driving down the A1 during May & July 84 at the time of miners strike and being pulled over by the Police at Blythe roundabout to have my van searched, and they were very heavy handed the majority of them werent even from Nottingham or South Yorkshire. I also passed the Orgreave coking plant the day of the so called Battle of Orgreave where all the striking miners that were picketing were marched to a field by the police and you could clearly see the police goading the pickets. I actually saw once police man set fire to what looked like a ten pound note only feet away from the pickets then the police charged and horses came from no where with dogs just being let loose. There was no intention on the polices part to keep the peace that day they were there to demoralise the miners and their families. I am also sure that a few years later it came out that the whole event had been orchestrated by MI5 which mean it had to have been given the go ahead by senior government ministers The Iron Whore herself Fact the police had to payout half a million pounds in compensation to 39 miners arrested and beaten that day. The violence was all on the part of the Police the miners were quite happy for peaceful protests lest we never forget communities were destroyed by the Tories in 84.
