Thanks again James LeBlanc for the Beautiful Eulogy you gave for Chad and all you and the local fire departments do: Eulogy for Ascension Firefighter Chad Brown: On behalf of the Ascension Parish Fire Service, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office, Hunts Correctional Center and all our brother firefighters that have joined us over the last two days across the State of Louisiana – let me begin by extending my deepest sympathy to the entire Chad Brown family. I can’t imagine the pain and the grief that is in your hearts. Over the past two days we have seen many family and friends…. It is such a healing gift for all of us to be surrounded by the love and friendship each and every one of you had for Chad. Thank you again for coming and showing this family just how much of a special place Chad held in all our hearts. As I stand here I have struggled to find the right words, the right stories, and the right notes that would describe how Chad was…… A loving and devoted husband, son and friend to the entire fire service. At the age of 24, he gave so much to his community. An eight year veteran of the Geismar Fire Department, and one of his outstanding accomplishments was recently making the Tactical Team with Hunt’s Correctional Center. No one expected today to come so soon. And as I see all of you, and again Samantha & Renee and Chad’s entire family have spent the last few days talking to you and sharing comfort, and as I read the dozens of emails, the entries on his guest book and the entries on facebook, I know that Chad has touched so many lives. Chad today and last night has pulled a vast number of people together of different backgrounds and areas and brought all of us together. It is a testament of his values, a testament of his charm and grace, and a testament of his great life. I hope what ever Chad showed you over his life will stay with you just long enough for you to share it with someone else. There is no doubt in my mind that Chad was an angel here on earth and is now an angel in heaven. Chad had a heart of gold. Looking around this chapel today and the funeral home last night makes it clear just how many people’s lives he touched with his heart of gold. Now there is an empty space, where once a young man cared so much for his lovely wife, and Mother, he loved to go fishing, and loved to ride in his jeep. It is a very large void, not so much because his physical presence is now gone, but more because the way in which he shared and gave of himself, his entire life. “To Those I Love And To Those Who Love Me” When I am gone, Release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy we had 24 years. I give you my love, You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love You have shown me, But now it’s time I travel alone. So grieve a while for me, If grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away for life goes on. So if you need me, Call me and I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, You’ll hear All my love around you, Soft and clear. And when you must come this way along, I’ll greet you with a Smile, And “Welcome U Home”. This poem has inspired me to go on with our everyday lives. I know that as I read this, we can feel the presence of Chad with us, comforting us, and living with in us. We will see you again Chad, we know you are in heaven already in the fire department their and showing them how it is done in Ascension. We will hear you in the memories that are stored in our hearts and that will be told and retold at all our fire department gatherings. We will hear you when we that next call goes out to our brothers in Geismar. Oh yes Chad, you are here I see you in the eyes of all those gathered here, I could feel you last night and again today wrapping your arms around your wife and mother, your grandparents, sisters and brothers all your loved ones letting them all know that you are now at peace. Chad, start preparing a place for us, until we meet again. Rest in Peace – FD809. James E. LeBlanc Fire Chief – Ascension Fire Dist. #1
