Thanks for adding me. Ive been a real happy Tacoma owner until this weekend. I was going to have the exhaust system replaced on my 2004 Tacoma 4x4 double cab this week. Crawl under it, and am shocked by what I see! The frame is GONE! Big pieces are simply rusted away and gone. Rust laying in my driveway. Went online to see if this has been a problem. Thats when I learned there were not one, but two recalls for inferior metal used on the frame and spare tire hanger. Toyota had a free inspection/frame replacement/or buy back recall program. Sadly, it ended in 2012. Unfortunately, I was NEVER notified. Not by mail, email or phone. This in spite of the fact the dealer is literally 1 mile from my home. Truck will not only not pass inspection, but is unsafe to drive. After spending under an hour online, Ive learned this was a MASSIVE problem. almost 150,000 Tacoma trucks involved. Anyone here?
