Thanks for all the letters in support of Vera Seattle. From Councilmember Richard Conlin - "Thank you for the message about the Vera Project. I sponsored the proposal to add $50,000 for 2013 to the Vera Project budget, and I am pleased to report that the Council unanimously adopted that proposal at today’s Council meeting. The process was a bit convoluted – I asked the Mayor to put this sum into the First Quarter Supplemental Budget ordinance, and he had agreed to do so. However, in Committee four Councilmembers voted to take the $50,000 out of the legislation because they had questions about Vera’s finances and the conditions for the funding. Fortunately, Vera passed that review with flying colors, and the Council agreed to put the funds back in at today’s Council meeting. All’s well that ends well! I will continue to work to find a sustainable source of funding for Vera for the future, but it is great that we were able to add these funds for 2013.
