Thanks for sharing with the team Coach Todd Smith (ZCC). Sometimes when we are preparing to play another football team, we learn that they have a player on their team that is considered to be a “dirty” player. A player that doesn’t play fair, that is deceptive, and always looking to take a cheap shot at our players. They will pinch you and spit on you at the bottom of the pile or hit you after the whistle blows. Their intention is get in your head, to get you out of the game, or to hurt you. Well, we all have one of those players playing against us in the game of life and he tries to blind side us with temptation. Satan is the dirtiest of players and he attacks us at our weak points…and we all have them! Do you know yours? If you don’t then ask yourself this question: “What sin am I coming the closest to committing”? Build your defenses in that area. “Be on alert” (1 Peter 5:8) and know how the devil attacks you and what temptations he uses against you. You have to protect yourself on the playing field so you can be focused and stay in the game! Temptation is deception, it is a lie. What is evil is presented to us as good, what is harmful as helpful, what is poison as a cure, what is enslaving as liberating, and what is foul as fun. It is a trap by the other team to go after our best players so that they can win the game. 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises that God always gives us a way out when we are tempted. We can combat the temptations with God’s word, prayer, Christian fellowship, and fleeing or avoiding it when possible. In James 1:12-18 God also promises that if we will endure then things will go well for us, we will be blessed and receive the crown of life. God views the temptation as testing. He wants to build us up. He wants to make us stronger. He wants to use it for good. He wants us to exceed the limitations that we put on ourselves. He is the Coach of all coaches. No matter how much Satan tries to cheat, the good news is, that in the end…. we win the game and God receives the glory!
