Thanks goes out to Janice Glyn-Gallagher, who along with me, went to the Rockford Township meeting today. Unknowing to me prior to the meeting, they allow anyone from the public to just speak out at the public section. I advised them of our group and what I was there for. I said something along the lines of: I am with Represent.Us and came to let you know that the advisory question will be done as a special session. The Township Supervisor, Mickey Goral, said that they had to shoot it down in the last meeting as not to be challenged about it later. He addressed the lack of signatures, the role of advisory questions in townships and the multi-part aspect of the question. I let him know that we will certainly have more than 15 signatures and I will personally verify their validity first. I also let him know that there is a precedent of advisory questions in Township meetings and that the exact question is being proposed in other Townships. I personally thought that the board was not completely opposed to it, but simply following the law. They were unable to pass it internally today to be on the ballot due to the law. Mr. Goral did not brush us off and I felt respected and listened to. Mr. Goral even seemed a little scared of the advisory question. :)
