Thanks so much for all the advice yesterday. This morning I called Kearney Fire Department and my call was passed to Nate, todays captain. He took our information and it will be entered with dispatch. The ladder we have upstairs he didnt think would be a good idea for Rodney to try to use in our room. If the fire was in the garage and he tried to use the ladder to get out of our room it may leave him dangling right in front of the fire and a drop to the concrete could leave him unable to crawl away from the fire. Nate gave us one awesome piece of advice. Smoke detectors now can be wired so that they communicate throughout the house and if there is a problem in one place all the detectors will alarm. That early detection could be quite a difference, time wise, so we are going to look into those ... TODAY. Thanks again for all the suggestions. What a comforting feeling that everyone out there is helping to look out for Rodney! :)
