Thanks to Bea Daily for sharing these sunrise service photos from Okaloosa Island this morning. She writes a crowd of 1,500 arrived in the dark between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Easter morning to attend the 40th Annual Easter Sunrise Service held at Beasley Park. The beachside worship service was sponsored by Lutheran churches in the area including Grace Lutheran Church in Destin; Holy Trinity Lutheran in Fort Walton Beach, Good Shepherd Lutheran in Shalimar, and St. Paul Lutheran in Niceville. Participating pastors were Rev. Kevin Wendt, Rev. Wayne Brown, Rev. Steve Marko, Rev. Jerry Houge, Rev. Ray Angerman, and Rev. John Underdahl with an assist from Carolyn Schlatter on the keyboard. Angerman preached the sermon and bagpiper Bob Horner played Amazing Grace. Organizers thank the Board of County Commissioners for the use of the park and the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Posse for assisting with traffic control.
