Thanks to Harpers doctors that just gave me the heads up that Harper was in some hospital promotional materials that I didnt even know about! Now I need to find a big canvas that is apparently at Levine Childrens Hospital. She was so little here and we were just beginning her first year of treatment for her Scoliosis! I get lots of questions on her brace so here is the short version. Only .2 % of the population has a Scoliosis curve over 30 degrees and even less than that needs intervention with a brace or surgery. The more growth the individual has remaining, the greater the risk of progression over time which is why it was disheartening when we were given the diagnosis that Harper had infantile scoliosis. Braces are used in an attempt to prevent the curve from getting worse. Braces do not improve scoliosis or cause it to go away. The brace is usually worn until the bones reach maturity (roughly up to age 16) and then the likelihood of curve progression is less. Today as I make her next appointment for her 6 month out of brace x-ray I praise God for the Gomez brace that is holding her curve and miraculously even correcting it some. If you forward to 2:20 you see little Harper at age 2 1/2! youtu.be/xye1SwR6fV4?list=PL395CB92CAE887725
