Thanks to Jed, a stage actor (among other things) who has worked both in NYC and Chicago (where he went to graduate school) for posting this. This is batshit crazy. LA theater has never been more vibrant. Beyond the big venues, theres the Geffen, Malibu Playhouse, all the stuff in the Valley like the theater Garry Marshall helped start (with a ton of help), Pasadena Playhouse, and a host of smaller theaters Hollywood. RIP the Tiffany but there is more theater in LA now than any time in my life. Shame on Vanity Fair for going all Woody Allen/Nicole Holofencer (Enough Said was the most horrendous slam of LA and LA people in recent pop culture memory: it made Angelenos sound like a bunch of philistines and morons which simply isnt true though LA will just never be NYC no matter what).
