Thanks to John Bogert for this recap of todays Master National!! We are through the first exiting day of the 2013 Master National at Flint Oak. We have 12 dogs in the Master National this year from SMRC which is unprecedented and we should all celebrate that. The first series was a land/water series with triple marks all on land and requiring a swim and a “down the shore” blind with a close angle to the middle mark. The first mark was a dead duck thrown at about 60 yards to the left of the line. The second bird was a dead duck thrown in front of the line at about 80 yards. The “GO” bird was a shot flyer to the right of the line at about 80 yards, but behind a dike so the dog did not see the duck hit the ground. All of the SMRC dogs did well today, but we only got through half of the 168 dog flight so we have another full day tomorrow before call backs will be announced. Bud ran Belle, Drake, Cocoa and Camo today and we think everyone is OK. He still has Farmer and Fire to run tomorrow. Scott ran Indy, Jack and Duke today and we thing everyone is OK except maybe Jack who had some cast refusals. He still has Buck to run tomorrow. Dick Myers ran Page and she nailed the whole thing. Paul Lance ran Decks and he nailed the marks, but he had some early issues on the blind, but took all the casts and should be OK. All in all, it was a good day for the SMRC dogs.
