Thanks to a dream I had a few nights ago Ive begun to think of my thesis writing process as an episode of the show What Not To Wear...So far Ive made it through the embarrassing why would you ever think it was okay to wear (write) that? moment in the mirrored room, the throwing-out of all my clothes (comments like this entire paragraph can be condensed into one sentence), the traumatic solo shopping trip (re-writing session), after which Stacy and Clinton (adviser) watch the footage (read the second draft), laugh, and say wow, she didnt hear a darn thing we said and still looks like crap, and the shopping trip with Stacy and Clinton (an editing session with adviser after which my thesis looked decent)....Now Im in the final shopping phase: Im on the right track and know what to buy (write) but still have $3,000 to spend to complete my new fashionable wardrobe (30 hours of work left before I can publish anything). I also still need to go get my hair and makeup radically changed (send a draft to my committee) go for my big reveal to Stacy and Clinton (defense) and to friends and family (defense seminar!). The only problems I can find in this dream metaphor are that I was not ambushed and coerced into this process, and that I dont think Jesse Barber would like being compared to Stacy and Clinton. This needs to be made into a Phd comics strip
