Thanks to a friend who shared a video of Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough, I realized that YouTube now has a ready pre-mix of songs from the 90s. I ended up clicking on the list of several timeless classics which we all grew up with and one which I especially love to blast and sing at the top of my lungs along to in 1993: Soul Asylums Runaway Train. It appears that the MV is pretty dark, but the lyrics still resonate so much sometimes. Unexpectedly stumbling on this list, and listening to all the various songs which appeared in movies (or not), such as It Must Have Been Love by Roxette which appeared in the movie Pretty Woman (1992) and When You Say Noting At All in Notting Hill (1996), I can only realize that the old songs are always the best songs. Especially when they were songs which you sing along to or put in repeat mode in your angsty or day-dreamish teenage years. It also makes me realize that age is necessary to understand the meaning behind the lyrics. Back then, the words were probably just that - words. Indeed, while growing up is optional, it is absolutely necessary to grow old to gain wisdom. Sigh, we can never go back to the good old carefree and innocent days. What will always remain are memories... and the power of music / songs which will sometimes snap you back to the past - fast.
