Thanks to all of our veterans! Herman Dicus joined the Marines as a 19 year old and fought in the Pacific during WW II. Three of my uncles, Bill, Earl, and Lloyd Whitten, Army, Marines, and Navy respectively, served in WW II. Bill in Europe, Earl in the Pacific, and Lloyd, the baby of the family, in the Pacific. Lloyd was just 19 when he was killed in action. He is buried in Manila, Philippines. Philip Fortenberry, my youngest, served four years in the Army and ended his military career as a Sgt in Special Forces.
