Thanks to the affordable care act, olivias surgery has been denied. Apparently signing up through the wonderful marketplace has resulted in the insurance company now deciding what is medically necessary and not her treating physicians. As her surgeon put it, since january 1st, they own us. We cant do anything unless they deem it necessary. Thanks Obama, now my toddler has to go through unnecessary bullshit because new laws have granted insurance companies the right to allow panels to decide medical treatments AGAINST treating physicians recommendations.
