#ThanksForTheInspiration Episode: II: The Man, The Myth, The Friend Today I want to tell you the story of a man who I consider myself blessed to have known. But we will first go back to the summer of 07 where I found myself in Richmond. So there we were hanging out as if we were old friends. Though, we had just met each other earlier that evening when I was in the car with Bill and we rolled up to this guys apartment in the west end. We chilled for a second over some cheap beers before departing for what I would later realize was the main event. A 10 hour continuous jam session in a small place that could barely contain such energy. Minutes turned to hours as bassists and guitarists and drummers rotated slowly in an out in a flawless ballet of improvisational sounds. The jam provided the soundtrack to the journey through the faded halls as I soaked up the energy from the words in the stairwell. As the night drove on, I found myself in a room that couldnt have been much bigger than a standard EZ Up. I looked to my left and there he stood beside me. A shorter man that most but he stood taller on the plains of understanding than I ever could. Encased in the deafening roar of musical emotion, I mouthed the words, This is what it is supposed to be about. A smile graced his face as he nodded in reply. You have no idea. I hugged him in gratitude for showing me what was and what could be as eternity passed through the present and now lasted forever. This would be the start of a friendship that would transcend existence in this realm. And I can draw 90% of my friendships since, the people I now call family, back to this one little munchkin. Adam Baker, Thanks for the inspiration. You always have and continue to show me that music is what makes us feel alive. That music is love. And the world needs love. It is important to note that the group of musicians that were all jamming at that peak moment would, only months later, go on to form Silo Effect. That really was the beginning of more than I can describe. Today, 2 years ago, you became eternal. Make sure to hold down that money balcony spot good sir. Ill be there one day and we shall rage it proper until the end of time.
