That Steve Buckley is one smart guy. • No issue tormented me more in 2014 than the ongoing racial strife that exists in our country. Look, I still see cops as heroes, and that’s not ever going to change. Every day they’re on the job is a day in which they’re protecting my life as well as the lives of my family. But I also know there are bad cops, dumb cops, racist cops. So, whose side am I on? My answer is this: I’m on my family’s side. And as it happens now, in the 21st century, my family is multiracial and includes a law enforcement official. Nothing means more to me than that they’re all safe. In that spirit, then, and I guess this is terribly naive, I just wish we could all use some common sense and make every day a pledge to value the dignity of a human life.
