That old time kind of preaching really scares me.... I want to be soothed everytime I go to Church... Romans 13:4 (KJV) (4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. But cant everybody just hear the real good-feel good stuff and be alright with God? Jude 1:21-23 (KJV) (21) Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (22) And of some have compassion, making a difference: (23) And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. But why do people have a tendency to reject the old-time preaching today? 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV) (3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. Dear Lord... We see all around us today, the result of watered down preaching.... the ungodly things many of our church bodies have incorporated into every service.... We pray that we would get back on the old paths as You remind us through the words of the prophet Jeremiah in chapter 6 and verse 16.... I know that the flesh is always looking for something to satisfy it... but Lord... We need Your Word to satisfy our weary souls! I pray that our preachers will hold true to the old paths and walk therein... In Jesus name... Amen.
