That was the coldest race I have ever run. Shane and I found out that our hydration packets dont work so well when they freeze (seriously, the hoses froze!!!), iPhones do not work when they are frozen (note the very few pictures I was able to take), running mountains is really really hard (up hill and down hill), running in freezing weather is super hard (not Charleston cold, really cold), you have to wear all your running clothes that you own all at the same time (and if you sweat like me, they freeze!), if you cant drink water for twelve miles (because it is frozen) it will make you cramp later in the race, if you fall and twist your ankle multiple times it will swell to the size of a grapefruit (see Shanes ankle), and even on a swollen ankle and all the other crap you can still finish 32 miles of 50. We will take our 50k + and be happy we made it out alive (seriously). Still it was beautiful and I got to spend the day running with my buddy (that is a good day)...
