Thats So Corny! Learn How to Grind Corn at the Silver City Museum, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 2 pm. Learn how territorial New Mexicans ground their corn on Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Silver City Museum. The Silver City Museum is located at 312 W. Broadway. Try your hand at grinding corn the old-fashioned way. This is a fun family activity to see not only how corn was ground, but also wheat, and a variety of grains before store bought flours were common. Your work will be rewarded with a taste of a tamal. This event is in collaboration with the Tamal Fiesta to be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Silver City. Funding in part for these programs and exhibits is made possible thanks to the members and volunteers of the Silver City Museum Society. The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching and interpreting the regions unique history. For more information, please contact the museum at (575) 538-5921, [email protected]., or go to the museums website silvercitymuseum.org.
