The 1st day of 2015 has slipped by and is almost over. Lovely as it is to relax and take a break after Christmas there are still a few days left before Nollag na mBan signals the end of this Christmas period. So it is time to reflect a bit and then to plan. I dont make New Year Resolutions because I know I will not follow them at this time of year. February is the earliest that I feel any urge to get going and make changes. I have found that I am much more likely to make new beginnings and changes then. January, to me is a time of hibernation as much as possible. It is a slow start but as the days begin to lengthen again I see my way forward with renewed energy. However these days after the New Year are not entirely wasted. They are a time to look back with gratitude at all that is past and a time to see and imagine what I need to do, where I need to invest energy, what changes are calling out to be made and also how I can improve my thinking to include the inevitable changes that we all have to deal with. It is a case of having gratitude for all I have and a little bit of desire to keep evolving and going with the flow. There are the obvious changes and repairs and de cluttering to be done. Not an easy job for a hoarder but getting to be a problem if I dont make a serious stab at it. Then there is the garden and much more besides. But that is for another day as we move to Spring. I could start with Facebook too. I need to check my friend list which seems to be constantly growing. I have already made a start on limiting the time I spend on it so that will continue. The good part is that it is so easy to keep in touch and to learn new things and hear of new ideas. The other side of it is that it can be a great distraction when I want to avoid doing something else. I have plenty to think about as this Christmas draws to an end. The grandchildren are all back to school on Monday and the youngest is starting preschool Naionra on the 5th. also. Changes all around. I cant even imagine going back to school before the 7th. January but that is how the holidays fall this year. The 6th. of January - Small Christmas, Nollag na mBan, The Epiphany has always been a day to be celebrated and marks the end of the Festive Season.
