The 2014 MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are officially under way at Widener University. The mens decathlon competition has begun, with Brian Layng and Joe Bayona representing the mens team. Layng was third in the 100 (11.59), and first in the long jump (203-3/4) and shot put (3611). Bayona was eighth in the 100 (12.23), ninth in the long jump (179-1/2) and 11th in the shot put (2510). Layng was the top-ranked individual coming into the meet in the decathlon. Bayona was fourth. Great start guys! Both the mens and womens 4x800-meter relays compete tonight, as well as the mens and womens 10,000-meter run. Go Jays!
