The 2014 National Prayer School comes to Leicester this autumn On Thursday 4th July 2014, the 2014 National Prayer School was launched in Leicester. Voice in the City, in partnership with the National Day of Prayer and Worship will be heading up this initiative to teach and encourage Christians to take prayer seriously again. The launch saw over 100 Christian Leaders from the four key networks which unite the Church across the Leicestershire area come together for an evening of worship and encouragement at All Saints Church, Belgrave. In a recent report, entitled Time for Discipleship published by the Evangelical Alliance, it was suggested that 63% of Christians surveyed get easily distracted when spending time with God and that only 31% set aside a substantial period of time for prayer each day. The National Prayer School seeks to help address these important challenges to being a modern day Christian by putting a focus back on God. The National Prayer School will take place at All Nations Church, 10 Frog Island in Leicester between Wednesday 19th November and Saturday 22nd November. The event hopes to attract hundreds of Christian from across the whole of the UK to attend. Over the 3 days, there will be a mixture of teaching led by Suzette Hattingh and Gayle Claxton Co-Founders of Voice in the City and Dr Jonathan Oloyede, Convenor of the National Day of Prayer and Worship. Details and booking for the National Prayer School is now open via the Voice in the City website: voiceinthecity.org/de/nps Speaking at the launch last Thursday, Dr Jonathan Oloyede, Convenor of the National Day of Prayer and Worship said The National Prayer School is a fantastic opportunity for Christians and Churches across the Nation to learn more about the power and principles of intercession. It is such a blessing to have the churches in Leicester host this pivotal event for the nation. As Convenor of the National Day of Prayer and Worship, I stand with Voice in the City to promote the spirit and heart of what this amazing initiative represents. This is not a conference, but a school for all those who want to experience the presence of God in a fresh way, so take these three days out of your regular pattern of life. Every Christian who has a genuine passion for the Kingdom should book in with their leadership teams to come along to Leicester in November to catch the fire of Prayer again!! Speaking of the importance of having a Prayer School, Gayle Claxton, Co-Founder of Voice in the City added: Prayer is one of the most talked about subjects in the church, and yet because of lack of direction and simplicity it is the least practiced on a daily individual basis. The aim of the prayer school is to take you from the place where you are and lead you into a deeper yet simpler lifestyle of prayer. This school is designed for the “weak” and the “strong” covering the basic subjects that are vital for our Christian life. With practical application you will learn how to “pray” when it is just you and Jesus! This is not three days of theory but 3 days that will impact you for life. I encourage you to come and learn and bring people with you so that Britain will again be ablaze with the passion and fire of prayer.
