The 23rd Psalm has become very popular and is a great comfort to those who know our Lord as their Shepherd, but have you ever thought about the comfort people forfeit by not having the Lord as their Shepherd? It might read something like what is listed below this beautiful Psalm. DLT The Lord is my Shepherd! The 23rd Psalm 1 ¶« A Psalm of David. » The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. The Lord will not force Himself on anyone, the choice is ours as to whether the Lord is our Shepherd or NOT. The fact that He has made Himself available to us through His Son, Jesus Christ is His Grace. Receive His Son as your Saviour today or thank Him if you have already received Christ as Saviour. The Lord is NOT my Shepherd! Because the Lord is not my Shepherd I shall want (be in need or have lack). Because the Lord is not my Shepherd, He doth not make me lie down in green pastures. In fact He doesnt make me to lie down anywhere. I lie down where I want, when I want. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd, He does not lead me beside the still waters; in fact He does not lead me at all. Ive gone where I want; Ive done it my way. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd my soul is troubled. I have no rest in my soul. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd I am not following Him in the paths of righteousness. I am in fact going in my own paths doing my own thing. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd and as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I am alone. The Lord is not with me and I am afraid. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd His rod and His staff is a burden to me and not a comfort. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd I have no table prepared before me and my enemies glory in my trouble. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd I have no special anointing. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd my cup is empty. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd I know nothing of His goodness or His mercy. Because the Lord is not my Shepherd, after this life I will never dwell in the house of the Lord, but will dwell in the Lake of Fire forever. (Revelation 20:15, 21:8)
