While only fat (specifically essential fatty acids) and protein (specifically essential amino acids) are essential, all three should be incorporated into a well-balanced diet. Many diets on the market restrict one or more of these macronutrients, and while any diet that restricts calories will work, it’s not always necessary to go to such great extremes to get results.
