The 3 stages of healing a physical injury are not altogether - TopicsExpress

The 3 stages of healing a physical injury are not altogether different from the stages of healing any wound--be it emotional, psychological, or spiritual. In fact, from a yogic perspective, you cant heal (and I say heal here, not cure or numb or overcome) any wound without addressing all aspects of it. The acute stage is when the proverbial shit hits the fan, and the key response is inflammation--fire. Things swell, get amplified, pressure builds. In the wake of any wound, be it a twisted ankle or a broken heart, the first stage is one of heat and a signal for all resources to flood in and start mitigating the damages. This can mean swelling of tissues, ego, anger, etc. As the heat settles, the body begins to clear away what doesnt belong--and that is a period of discernment and careful deliberation about what is damaged and what is remains whole. The final stage is the remodeling or rebuilding, which ideally comes when the other work has been done...and done in such a way that what you rebuild is not more woundedness or the patterns of the wound, but has greater strength, resilience, and wisdom. You cant skip a step and heal, not really.
