The 4th Stonehenge & Amesbury lantern procession began with the Solstice lantern lit at sunset at Stonehenge with this years Solstice Faerie chosen to be Audrey Langellotti of Limousin, who travelled to England to take part in the lantern procession after reading about it in France and Mayor of Amesbury John Bright. Capturing the last embers of light from the darkest day of 2014, the lantern was then taken to the Cradle of Stonehenge -the Mesolithic springs at Blick Mead, where an estimated 300 people processed from the History Centre & circled the lantern to celebrate Mid Winters eve. After keeping the candle burning all night the lantern was returned to Stonehenge this morning and extinguished as the new dawn began. Photos show Children from Amesbury Primary School, making lanterns (kindly donated by Jeff Coy at the Murco garage and Tracey at Kraft Crazy) with BBC Wiltshire, The Solstice lantern at Stonehenge with Mayor John and Faerie Audrey.
