The 6th Young Chef Competition was launched by the Macau Culinary Association and supported by the Macao Foundation. It was held in the Combined Kitchen of the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) yesterday. The organisers encouraged contestants from local industry to take part and compete amongst themselves to advance their cooking skills and raising the profile of the talent within Macao’s tourism sector. On top of these, the competition aims to promote the development within the industry at the local and international levels. This is the 6th year of Young Chef Competition, and the 12 competitors came from local industry include MGM, Mandarin Oriental, Wynn, City Of Dream, Banyan Tree, Galaxy Macau, Hotel Okura and Venetian. The competition invited 3 professionals, Toni Mak、Yves Duron and Dominique Bugnand from the industry to be the judges. The award presentation ceremony was held at 1800 at IFT Educational Restaurant. After tasting and discussion, the judges reached agreement. The First prize was presented to Francis D. J. Valdellon from Galaxy Macau while the Second prize and Third prize were belonged to Chan Ion Keong from Mandarin Oriental and Sun Guang Lai from Okura. The winners and contestants were presented the awards and souvenirs by the Chairman of the Macau Culinary Association – Raimund Pichlmaier.
