The #6th_of_January marks the day of the establishment of the first regiment of the Royal Iraqi Army in 1921 during the British Mandate and after the Ottoman occupation of Iraq. The Iraqis celebrate this day every year since because of the close and fervent bond between the army and the people, most of us had our brothers, fathers, grandfathers and uncles serving in it, through many wars that each one had its own Unique flavor and impact on the Iraqis. Here is a summary about some of the most important conflicts in the Iraqi History: - Arab-Israeli Conflict, Palestine in 1948, the 6 Days war in Jordan 1967, and the October War In 1973 in Egypt. which the Iraqi army has proven its superiority and fierceness in the Middle east. - The 80s conflicts, which Iraq had to be driven to an Eight-Year war with Iran making it the 20th centurys longest conventional war.. The Iraqi army fought at its best during the Iran-Iraq war that made the Iranians lose harshly but after all of that it ended up with a Stalemate that made Iraqi economy collapse and the army exhausted, every family lived during the 80s in Iraq probably had someone lost or participated in that conflict. - Gulf Wars, were Iraqs Wise leadership made its biggest mistake and doomed Iraq with the Invasion of Kuwait followed by an American Attack, then Iraq had to suffer from an oppressive embargo until 2003 which the US and its allies Liberated Iraq within 21 days due to the broken and exhausted spirit of the Iraqis and their army. - Counter Terrorism Campaigns which started after the renewing of the Army in 2003 to The current events of the Northern Iraq offensive and the fight against ISIS. In my opinion; Iraq has one of the best armies in the world, the Iraqis know how to fight, The only problem is the wise leadership, which we have lost since the 80s. - Comrade Basil
