~~The 80 Days of Cruel Summer~~ DAY 47. The B-52s, Love Shack. The B-52s had a huge hit in the Summer of 1989 with Love Shack that was released in June of the same year. It was their biggest hit to date and the bands first song to sell a million copies. It was one of the last great songs of the 80s and became forever cemented in Pop Culture as an anthem fun party song. Love Shack was a hit worldwide and still remains popular on the radio today. The songs inspiration was a cabin around the Athens, Georgia area where the band was formed. Somewhere off the Atlanta Highway, the Love Shack exists with a tin roof, happy vibes, love, glitter and a great jukebox. Tin Roof Rusted and Hop in my Chrysler, Its a big as a whale, are classic lyrics that we all know , love and that remind us of Summer. Love Shack is PURE 80s fun and as a good old friend said, What a great song to send off the 80s! Its our last great summer song of the 80s as 1989 geared up to turn into 1990. 1989 was a time we wont forget as we prepared to say goodbye to our youth. The 80s were saying goodbye and we celebrated at The Love Shack and knew that a great time was passing by. What memories do you have of this great 80s Summer Song?
