The AFC gathering at Whim was one of the biggest i have seen outside of elections season. There were in attendance people from nearby Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester villages, that made the crowd multiple-ethnic. Thank you, dear villagers! The crowd stayed even after a well timed blackout that started as soon as party leader Khemraj Ramjattan started to speak, and came on just after the meeting concluded. AFC fighters anticipated the blackout and quickly started up a standby generator. Even the rains and chikungunya mosquitoes did not stop what has become a positive feat of AFCs strength and influence in Berbice. The crowd waved AFC flags and a few carried placards calling for PPP govt to resign, and loud cheers greeted my call for the Jagdeo-Ramotar pharaoh, to let our people go! AFC plans to return to Berbice for daytime sessions with rice farmers and sugar workers to address their concerns.
