The Aam Aadmi Party expresses its deep shock and outrage at the sustained and unprovoked attacks by the Israeli armed forces on the Palestinian civilians in Gaza. The attack on Gaza must be stopped immediately. Humanitarian aid to the Palestinians be facilitated immediately, and a United Nations observers team be sent to Gaza to ascertain the loss of civilian lives and properties. Israel should bear all liabilities, full responsibility for the wonton destruction and loss of life. Despite numerous UN General Assembly and Security Council Resolutions, Israel has not withdrawn from the Palestinian Territories annexed by it during the 1967 war. Since its creation, Israel has consistently annexed Palestinian territory. Currently a large area of Palestine has been separated and divided by the Israeli wall that has segregated Palestinians from others in areas not officially Israeli. It is clear that Israeli settlements, intrusions and unprovoked attacks make the division of Palestine into the Gaza Strip and West Bank deeply divided and inevitably facing usurpation of their holy cities, besides dividing the Palestinians into two separate areas. We urge upon the Indian government to publicly call for a ceasefire in Gaza, allow doctors, medicines and all essential goods to get access into Gaza. Israel must compensate and pay reparation to the Palestinians for the extensive loss of civilian life and property. We also call upon the government of India to support the call for an independent Palestine. These demands, specially for an independent Palestine are hugely important and both the Government and civil society must rise to support the Palestinian people and their struggle for justice, peace and independence.
