The Accessible Home Widening a hallway for greater maneuverability in a wheelchair has many perks. First, you can reconsider the door situation - here we widened the opening to the living room and used a pocket door at the bathroom, a nice solution to the pesky problem of a door-swing taking up floor and wall space. Second, you can enliven the hallway by adding useful built-ins, such as the bookshelves and desk. Those high windows at the left bring in daylight while preserving usable wall space.
