The Alaska Earthquake Center Center confirms what some in the area felt this morning; an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 occurred early today in central Alaska. People as far south as Palmer and Chugiak reported feeling the quake. The quake was recorded at 1:03 a.m., centered about 37 miles north northwest of Talkeetna at a depth of about 59 miles.
