The Amazon Prime price increase from $79/year to $99/year is a great example of smart, well-handled public relations by an Internet retailer. They started floating rumors of a price increase, possibly as high as $129/year, months ago. They gave people lots of time to consider whether renewing at $129. Then, today, they sent Emails to customers announcing a price increase to $99/year. $99/year? Heck, thats nothing! Here I was trying to decide if $129/year was too much, and they only increased it to $99? Of course Im going to renew. And even though Im going to be paying an extra $20, Im going to FEEL LIKE I SAVED $30! Brilliant!
