The American Academy of Pediatrics has updated their recommendations for preventive health care or well child exams. We will be implementing these changes during the yearly well exams. 1. Depression: Screening for depression at ages 11 through 21 has been added. At each well child exam, we will have the child fill out a short depression screening questionnaire. 2. Dyslipidemia (cholesterol) screening: An additional screening between 9 and 11 years of age has been added. This is currently what Dr. Salem and Adriane have been recommending. 3. Hematocrit or hemoglobin: A risk assessment has been added at 15 and 30 months. This is currently part of our well child exam at 2 years. Yearly well child exams are an important part of keeping your children healthy. Call the office to schedule your childs appointment today!
