To a christian believer who angrily equates fighting against racism with complaining about the harm of secular christmas jokes - retort: you have no christian humility. what you have is a childish need for everyone to publicly defer to your private personal practices. you have no sense of balance dragging race into the thread as justification for your petulance. christians were the primary slave traders, christians justified slavery with biblical authority, christians dressed in sheets to terrorize - and continue to do so...how often to you publicly condemn them for sullying your deep faith, for surely, they have done more to wound the body of christ than a simple joke. Typo or not, an idiot it is whose pompous sense of piety allows him to compare his own hypersensitive over reaction to a joke to the fight to shrink the cancer of racism. response: Look who the pompous one is. No one who abides in Christ did any of those things. They may call themselves Christians but they were not living a Christian life. Those do upset me because they harm the cause of Christ. So do people like reverend Jackson or Sharpton who makes a living through divisive racialism. retort: youre a fool....and in spite of your best attempts to hide it from yourself, a bigot, too, exercising the typical argument of moral equivalency. My question, which you choose to leave unanswered is DO you, present tense, condemn in public the deep history of attacks upon the body of christ from within christianity... including not just those in the past or those you accuse of racial divisiveness, but those who warp and make whores of the gospels with prosperity theology, the sunday preaching of unapologetic and strictly non-spiritual political activism and social control, bigotry and cruel pride so active and vociferous within Christianity TODAY...or do you just hide behind the excuse that theyre not REAL christians and therefore you need say nothing ...surely if you can attack as deeply wounding and with public pronouncements the whimsy of simple jokes in the here and now you can muster the spine to attack the actual, active prostitution of the faith....or perhaps not
