The Amherst Police Department is accepting applications for a part-time dispatcher position. $12.93 an hour to start, $16.64 after completion of training program. Minimum qualifications: High School graduate or GED, at least 21 years of age, with the ability to type 40 WPM. Applicants should have good listening skills and be able to multi-task. Computer knowledge and some knowledge of the City of Amherst is a plus. Work hours include days, afternoons, night-shifts, weekends and holidays. Schedule flexibility/availability on the part of the applicant is extremely important. The training period is approximately 400 hours (10 weeks) for those without previous dispatch experience. This may be adjusted due to the training needs of the employee.
