The Anti Union Tribune (San Diego) is upset that the state Senate passed a pay raise for public employees, or for one bargaining unit, at least. They call it a 4.5% raise, but leave out the fact that it is over a two year period, not a year. They want it to sound like a big raise. And we all know why they want that picture painted. Because they are the Anti Union Tribune. It is their job to spin it that way. I have been a public employee for 24 years, under Dukemejian, Wilson, Davis, Schwarzeneggar, and now Brown. I can tell you this. Brown does not give away the store and he does not take bribes. He is fairly tough on the budget and on employees. But things are running better in the state now than they ever have in my 24 years. One thing that seems to have vanished is the continual blaming of employees for everything wrong in the state.
