Vendor Location: 13029 – 156 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada The Antique Photo Parlour is both a studio and a vendor member of AAPI. The studio is located at the West Edmonton Mall. The supply warehouse is located at 13029 – 156 Street in Edmonton. They sell frames, ladies hats and accessories as well as turn-key studio operations and their knowledge. After being photographed at an old time photography studio in Las Vegas, Fay was driven to open a studio in Canada. So, she bought her first few costumes and enlisted help from her mother and a friend to make more. And in 1976, with her brother as the photographer, Fay opened her studio in Southcentre Mall in Calgary, Alberta. The next summer, she started a mobile studio and worked three large fairs including Calgary Stampede. Within the first year in business, Fay had requests from other people to help them open their own studios which she did. Since there were a limited number of suppliers who could provide frames, The Antique Photo Parlour began importing frames and selling them to others. In 2002, Bill joined the team and set up a complete warehouse. Now, they sell frames, ladies hats and accessories as well as offer turn-key studios or their expertise in the business. Bill has also developed another division of the company, “Capture the Moment” for special event photography. In 2008, Fay received the highest honor in AAPI, the Martin & Bertha Glaser Award. Both she and Bill received the AAPI Service Award in 2010, Best in Show in 2005 and many blue ribbons for their photography over the years. They have also received awards from Calgary Stampede, including Best Themed Costume and Best Concession. Fay and Bill feel their greatest achievement in the industry is celebrating 36 years of successful business at The Antique Photo Parlour as well as sharing that experience by helping others excel in their own studios. Their favorite time period to shoot is Western.
