The Archives has recently received a large number of gay pulp - TopicsExpress

The Archives has recently received a large number of gay pulp books from Colin Simpson, whose collection also included a substantial number of leather, bear and S/M magazines - completing our growing collection in these areas. The cataloguing of these pulp books is being used to test the use of LibraryThing (a social cataloging web application for storing and sharing book catalogs and various types of book metadata) as an alternative cataloguing and access tool for the Archives Book Collection - see: https://librarything/profile/ALGA. One of the interesting aspects of cataloguing these pulp books, and indeed much of the Archives international book collection, is the identification of how few titles have any catalogued holdings in Australian libraries; many of these titles also have no catalogued holdings in non-Australian libraries. The use of LibraryThing will also allow volunteers to assist with copy-cataloguing the Archives current holdings directly into our LibraryThing account from offsite - if you have some previous experience using LibraryThing / cataloguing / are pedantic about books, editions etc, and are interested in being involved with the Archives Book Collection, please get in touch.
