The August general meeting will be held at the The Gymnasium, Prince of Wales Country Club, Las Aranas 1901, La Reina on August 20 with special guest speaker Reverend Alfred Cooper. Rev Cooper is as colourful a character as Joseph’s dreamcoat. A former postman in Cornwall and a graduate of Bristol University his name suggests more pub landlord than South American minister but he’s quick to explain that he’s a fourth generation Chilean. Currently he is the official chaplain to the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, and pastor of La Trinidad church in Las Condes. Soon after taking the position, the reverend was thrust into the world spot light as he led prayers for 33 Chilean miners trapped miles underground. He will be talking about the rescue of the 33 miners in 2010. The talk is entitled “ The 34th miner”. The meeting starts at 10.15am with coffee and shopping, the meeting proper starts at 10.45am. Guests are welcome at a guest fee of $3.000
